To be honest I'm not sure what over came me, but I cleaned Mr T's kitchen windows. Maybe the fact that you actually couldn't see anything through them might played a role - after all in our two years of going 'steady' I don't think I ever saw them cleaned.

Anyhu, it only took me all of 5 minutes, a bucket of warm water with some ordinary white wine vinegar, a spunge and newspaper to dry the glass. Voila, clean windows without streaks - Mutti would be so proud of me :)!
So get into your poison cabinet and through away your chemical window cleaning product.

Mr T is delighted and I'm hopeful that Mr T will clean ze other windows.

I'm sure you heard the story about 'Colin' a lost baby humpback whale - weak, hungry and desperate to find its mother - which has reportedly been trying to sucklea series of boats in Pittwater in Sydney.

Question is, should we try to keep Colin alive, or should we let nature take it's course?

How to recycle plastic bags

Did you know that Australians use around 6 billion plastic bags per year, 3.3 billion of which are supermarket plastic bags and according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, less than 1% of plastic are reused. Now if you tell me that you reuse your bag as a bin liner - like myself, or for dogs poo, I have to disappoint you. It doesn't matter if you put them straight in your bin as waste or put your other garbage in them or dog shit, the plastic bags will still end up in landfill, and potentially at large in the environment. So here are a few options of how to recycle your plastic bags.

As you can imagine the option are endless, but really, who has the time??

So I think the best way of recycling plastic bags is not to have them in the first place!

Take along a re-usuable bag for when you go shopping. They don't necessary have to be Green Bags like the once we have in OZ. You could go a little more upmarket like the "Im Not A Shopping Bag" by designer Anya Hindmarch.

It is really not that hard. Have a few re-usable bags in the boot of your car or carry a eco-friendly nylon bag from ecosilk bags australia in your handbag or backback.

Greenpeace has pointed out in a recent report that Beijing has met most of its environmental commitments for the 2008 Olympic Games. I am currently in Beijing and have to say that closing down all major construction sides and only having half of the cars on the road made a huge difference to the air quality. One can even see the mountains outside of the city, usually you can be lucky to see 200 meters ahead. But what impressed me the most, was that I got charged for a plastic bag at the supermarket. This has been a common practice in many European countries, Australia is still dragging its feet on the subject, but I really didn't expected it in China. Well done! China still has along way to go, but there is always a beginning.
